Celebrating the Summer Solstice Along the River

San Antonio River, Mission Reach, Confluence Park Trailhead

Today's photos:

The San Antonio River seemed to me to be the perfect location for a walk to celebrate the summer solstice. The abundance of sunflowers currently in bloom along the river added a touch of symbolic significance.

It should come as no surprise, this is only about a third of the photos from today's walk. I will add the remainder to the long list of photos yet to be published. This set was edited specifically with the first day of summer in mind.

Hopefully, the overcast sky and light drizzle today was a foreshadowing of the storms forecast for this weekend. We need the rain.

Saturday, April 14, 2012:  I should add that it was nice to see the black-bellied whistling ducks have begun to return from their winter home in Mexico.
