There are a lot of ducks on the San Antonio River. This time of year they are almost all mallards. On my walk on Friday, December 16, one duck stood out from all the mallards with its black tipped white bill and dark black head. This is a Lesser Scaup. There are a few of them spending their winter here:
I saw a few of these guys the other day. I was wondering who they were! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI now have a new favorite bird. Lesser Scaups are even more elegant than swans. Wow.
