The weather this week has definitely presented a challenge for nature walks and added a higher degree of difficulty for nature photography. On my walk along the Mission Reach of the San Antonio River Monday (December 31), the visibility was very poor with the fog and rain showers.
There were a number of times I was tempted to head back to the car because of the showers, but the birds kept attracting my attention and I kept on photographing them:
These birds include a juvenile black-crowned night heron, a great blue heron, a great egret, a turkey vulture and a pair of red-shouldered hawks.
