Yesterday there were a number of ducks on the catchment pond in McAllister Park. There were several green-winged teal and a pair of mallards, but the ones that were without a doubt the most eye-catching were the Buffleheads. These rather small ducks spend the winter in the Southern United States, generally in coastal areas. This small flock is probably just beginning its migration back to the arctic for the summer:
