Swallows are the avian grandmasters of aerial acrobatics as they fly over the river abruptly changing direction without slowing down while catching insects inflight and frequently swooping down, skimming at high speed across the surface of the water to catch insects there:











These photos were taken on a walk along the Mission Reach of the San Antonio River upstream from the VFW Blvd trailhead to Roosevelt Ave on Tuesday, April 19, 2016.
